How long have you been riding?
Started seriously riding in 1990
Why do you ride fixed?
Because road bikes took the fun out of riding on the street
How’d you get introduced to fixed riding?
I rode a friend’s fixed gear, fell over a couple times and was smitten.
Why do you wanna go to Austin?
I’ve never done a ride that far. It’s a good chance to try with support available.
Do you have any distance riding experience?
Not on the street. Singletrack only.
How are you preparing for the ride?
Ride whenever it’s possible. Eat protein.
Where’s your favorite place in town to go ride? In the world?
In town: Elm Street downtown Dallas, with the lights timed. In the world: Santa Cruz mountains, California (so far)
Do you have any inspirations or heroes?
No, not really.
What’s the stupidest/most embarrassing thing you’ve done on your bike?
I rode up a playground slide on a mountain bike, and didn’t have a plan to get down the other side.
Anything else we should be aware of?
I don’t like drop bars, and nothing you people can say will make me like them.
