How long have you been riding?
Seven years.
Why do you ride fixed?
Because Sheldon Brown did. He makes a persuasive case for fixed gear cycling that I happened to stumble upon last decade and I align myself strongly with his take on it, in addition to what I’ve learned on my own. You should read it.
Why do you want to go to Austin?
Because it’s there.
Do you have any distance riding experience?
Longest ride was 118 miles fixed. A couple comparable ones. If I’m on my bike, I like to be out for a long time.
How are you preparing for the ride?
Long daily rides, and also eating a lot, all the time.
What’s your favorite place in town to go ride? In the world?
I like to ride up in Richardson and in Highland Park.
As for outside Texas, either Manhattan or out by Annapolis, Maryland.
Do you have any inspirations or heroes?
Pretty much anybody inspires me one way or another.
What’s the stupidest/most embarrassing thing you’ve done on your bike?
Not ride it.
